This intricately branched golden tree with 16 medallions forms a geometric shape—a rhombus. The medallions are made of carved chalcedony and depict portraits of the kings and emperors of the House of Habsburg, arranged chronologically from bottom to top and left to right: Rudolf I, Albert I, Albert II, Frederick III (the Handsome), Frederick IV, Maximilian I, Charles V, Ferdinand I, Maximilian II, Rudolf II, Matthias, Ferdinand II, Ferdinand III, Leopold I, Joseph I, and Charles VI. The golden family tree was made in Vienna between 1725 and 1730.
