Sevan Bicakci is one of Turkey’s most renowned jewelers. He uses a variety of techniques, including micromosaic, calligraphy, reverse engraving, filigree, and enameling. But his signature technique is intaglio, a unique form of engraving that creates the effect of a three-dimensional image within a stone. This unique multidimensional effect is achieved through the play of light on the facets of a crystal or jewelry glass. It seems as if the artist has placed an entire world within the stone!

“Technique can be taught, but passion is the most essential ingredient, and it either exists or it doesn’t,” says Sevan Bicakci.
