Fendi Italian fashion house

Fendi is an Italian fashion house specializing in clothing, leather and fur goods, accessories, and perfumes. The company is part of the LVMH holding company.
The brand was founded in 1925 in Rome. Husband and wife team Eduardo and Adelaide Fendi opened a small leather goods shop. From the very beginning, Fendi positioned itself as a brand specializing in leather bags, but initially, it was not widely known outside of Italy.

In 1946, the founders’ five daughters—Carla, Adelaide, Francesca, Giovanna, and Anna Fendi—joined the family business.
1965: Karl Lagerfeld became Fendi’s creative director. He created the famous double “F” logo, which became the brand’s iconic symbol.

1977 — The brand introduced its first ready-to-wear line, which included fur pieces but with a more accessible design and style than those offered in its haute couture collections.
1997 — Silvia Venturini Fendi, the granddaughter of the brand’s founders, created the iconic Baguette bag, which was recommended to be worn like a French baguette.

1999 — The French corporation LVMH acquired a controlling stake in Fendi. This allowed the company to continue expanding and ensure stability in the face of global competition.
2005 — Fendi held one of the most iconic shows in fashion history, a collection presentation on the Great Wall of China, highlighting the brand’s international influence.

In 2025, the brand presented a collection dedicated to the House’s 100th anniversary. The runway featured fur coats, monochrome suits, dresses with curly ruffles at the hems, and oversized coats paired with massive gold chokers and fur bags.
In 2023, Fendi won the Maestri d’Eccellenza Prize, a competition dedicated to Italian craftsmanship.
