Founded in Paris by Turkish-French architect Aysa Özbank Taskan in 2015, Mara Paris redefines the concept of keepsake jewelry by creating contemporary statement pieces that capture the essence of individuality and are passed down from generation to generation.
An engineering background is a definite plus for a jewelry designer.

French brand Mara Paris is proof that architects should sometimes try their hand at jewelry design.
Architect Aysa Özban Taskan shares a love of art and jewelry design with Alexander Calder.

The sculptural jewelry from the “Curves and Personas” line is an example of how existing art can cross over into other mediums. The multi-plane rings and earrings Mona, Eva, Dora, Eucalyptus from the Curves section are a jewelry embodiment of the deconstructivism of Frank Gehry (Dancing House in Prague) and Zaha Hadid (Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku). The idea of the profiles on the pendants, rings and earrings Surreal and Two Face from the Persona section, drawn with one continuous line, goes back to Matisse and Picasso.

Another reminiscence from the architectural world is the collection called Two, with the same internal division into two parts. The massive earrings Expression of the Modern imitate the modern Venetian forms of the architect Carlo Scarpa, and the minimalist ring Long Reflection is created based on lighting design.

Putting on an earring in the form of a face (Dina earrings) is like admitting your commitment to René Magritte’s famous technique trompe l’oeil – an optical illusion. Taskan jewelry is not your run-of-the-mill raindrops and hearts, but references to the pictorial and architectural heritage of humanity, a kind of indicator of your values (intangible).
