Cartier Rose Ouvrante Brooch, 1972
Celebrity Jewelry

Angelina Jolie, as always, dazzled at the 81st Venice International Film Festival. On the red carpet, she wore a beige chiffon dress by Tamara Ralph with a faux fur stole. To the stole, the movie star pinned a gold flower brooch with diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, and rubies by Cartier. This brooch, inscribed “Rose Ouvrante,” from 1972, was part of Callas’s impressive jewelry collection, and Jolie wore it throughout the film, which premiered at the festival. The brooch features a secret design, with movable petals (which close to form a bud).

The film “Maria” by director Pablo Lorraine featured real jewelry from the famous singer’s collection, some of which are kept in the archives of the jewelry house Cartier – from there they found their way onto the film set, and then onto the red carpet of the film festival.
